The Third Claiming

She may have prolonged her grace period to delay hearing her mates lecture her about upsetting the healer. Ryder’s patting on her back took a more frustrated pattern. Shaking her head in amazement, she realized their disappointment of her made her uneasy. It was best to let them air their disappointment so they could move on.

Standing straight, Attie stepped back and tried to present a serious expression. Ryder’s obvious relief made her long to laugh aloud, but she would control her impulses like a proper descendant of the city. The delay since summoning her left her oldest mate pausing to remember his original reason for speaking.

“Attie, were you trying to hide from us because the first two couplings pushed you beyond what brings you pleasure?” Ryder watched her closely.

“I don’t yet know what boundaries I have concerning mating, but I understand what you are asking.” If she wanted, she could spin this situation to postpone the third coupling. Returning to the city would be much less complicated if she put a wedge between herself and the men who brought her here. It was selfish, but Attie wanted to soak up every chance to be treasured by her mates. Back home, she was but one of a whole. In her triad’s arms, she was their one focus, making her feel whole.

“Ulthia was wrong when she suggested I was disappointed in our mating. I have no reference to compare, but the lack of a bed did not stop me from finding great pleasure.”

Ryder exhaled with relief. “You were not trying to avoid tonight’s claiming? Thank the Creator above. Bride, tonight you shall be filled by all three of us. We will not rush you, but I have one stipulation I must ask your understanding about.”

All three of them would fill her tonight? His glorious words filled her with anticipation. No more holding back. She already knew the thrill of Wolf and Kai’s attention. Was Ryder finally prepared to claim her, too? Had his devotion to his first wife finally ended? Maybe it was Kai’s threat to bring the matter to the council? It didn’t matter somehow.

“Tell me what you require and consider it done,” she told him, her voice husky.

“I would rather mate on the cold, stone floor than ever lay upon that bed.”

“As I said before, beds have little association with the pleasure of mating.” Her eyes rested on the floor. “It will be tight, but we can find a way.” She meant the available space, but Wolf’s loud laughter suggested he was thinking of something else.

Kai yanked the white covering off the bed and found an area which afforded them the most room. He carefully spread it out before removing his clothes and beckoning her to join him. She allowed Ryder to help her settle in the center. Wolf appeared, a pillow in his hands. Attie found his action endearing. She reached to pull it below her head, but he shook his head.

“Lift up your silky hips,” he ordered.
